Oh what now!?

Are the opposition Liberal government going to criticise and caution every action the Rudd government takes to help the environment?;

PRIME Minister Kevin Rudd has jeopardised future negotiations with the United States on climate change, the Federal Opposition said. The White House yesterday expressed “serious concerns” with the Bali climate change roadmap to negotiate cuts of between 25 and 40 per cent by 2020. The weekend deal was struck after the US compromised at the UN climate change talks. Australia was praised for taking a leading role in the final negotiations. But Opposition climate change spokesman Greg Hunt has accused the prime minister of jeopardising future climate change negotiations with the US. “Whilst the US accepted with good grace that Australia had signed on to the Kyoto Protocol, during his speech to the conference Mr Rudd had a swipe at the US,” Mr Hunt told ABC radio today. “The result was that the talk of the conference was that the US had drawn back from Australia, that we had lost our leverage, the work that we were able to do with them in APEC had been pushed away. “So we had less influence and less leverage and they (United States) were to a certain extent more isolated as a result.”  [Source]

Oh what a load of headline grabbing crap. I know the ‘opposition’ government aren’t supposed to agree on everything the sitting government does, but why can’t the Liberals accept that Rudd showed some big balls, sticking it to the US on their disgusting lack of action. As mentioned in my previous post regarding Bali, by the time the next round of negotiations come, the Bush administration will be gone and the US will hopefully have a president who cares about the future of the world. So who cares if we pissed Bush off now? Good I say.

Yeah we pissed off a lame duck president, what a laugh!

The liberals are becoming what labor was under Beazley, an opposition for oppositions sake.

They have sold out so many of their pre-election positions just to try and look like an alternative.

Like that crap about using the navy to stop japanese whaling. I dont think theres a person in Australia who doesnt think this is an appropriate use of our defence forces. To say, i dunno, DEFEND OUR WATERS?! Geez.

As Road to Surfdom said, why is it ok to deploy the army in the NT to monitor alcohol consumption but not ok to deploy the navy to monitor whale consumption?

Are the navy busy doing other things? Apart from the Persian Gulf, I cant think of any current operation they’re required for. Maybe Timor & the Arafura sea customs/reffo blocking operation.
